WORTHINGTON -- Dr. Anton Armstrong, conductor of the St. Olaf Choir and also the Harry R. and Thora H. Tosdal Professor of Music at St. Olaf College, has invited the Worthington High School Concert Choir to attend the 111th annual St. Olaf Choral Festival in Northfield as a featured choir.
The choral festival is scheduled for Nov. 3. The 78 members of the WHS Concert Choir will first participate in a massed choir rehearsal and, at a 4 p.m. concert, sing as part of the 1,300 voice massed choir, as well as share a solo performance at that time.
Dr. Christopher Aspaas, also a St. Olaf College music conductor and professor, nominated the local choir for this honor. Aspaas heard and worked with the WHS Concert Choir at last fall's Southwest Choral Festival in Jackson.
Kerry Johnson directs both the WHS Concert and Trojan Choirs.
