WILMONT -- With an eight-run third inning, the Wilmont Cardinals surged to an 11-1 victory over Pipestone in an amateur baseball contest Sunday.
Nick Ahrens earned the victory for the Cardinals (14-2, 17-3) on the hill.
Ahrens allowed one earned run on nine hits while walking one and striking out three in five innings.
Offensively, Josh Noble had three hits, drove in four runs and scored twice for Wilmont. Josh Wasmund had a pair of hits and drove in three runs, while Joe Ahrens had two singles and walked twice.
For Pipestone, Matt Oye and Nick Schnieder each had two hits.

Wilmont will host a playoff game Friday at 7:30 p.m.

MOUNTAIN LAKE -- Jerrad Meinders scattered four hits and struck out four over six innings to lead Heron Lake.
Lucas Knutson broke a 1-1 tie in the sixth inning with an RBI groundout, and Ike Rogers followed with a two-out RBI single for Heron Lake (6-12), which added three more in the seventh.

Rogers went 2-for-5, and Trevor Leopold and Tony Jorgensen each had two hits for the Heron Lake.
Grant Wall went 2-for-2 with a triple and scored Mountain Lake's lone run on an RBI single by Mitch Schroeder.
Fourth-seeded Heron Lake will face Fox Lake at Jackson, and sixth-seeded Mountain Lake (4-13) will face No. 3 Windom on Friday. Both games are at 7:30 p.m.

CHASKA -- Taylor Rignell went 3-for-5 with an RBI, and James Wajer went 2-for-3 with two runs Saturday to lead Hadley in a loss to Chaska, which scored two runs in the sixth inning to break a 2-2 tie before adding four in the seventh.

Mitch Magnus went 1-for-2 with a run for Hadley, which held a 2-0 lead going into the bottom of the third inning.

MOUNTAIN LAKE -- Max Zwart went 2-for-2 with a two-run home run to lead Hadley, which had 11 hits in a five-inning game.
Joe Larson went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs, and Ben Clarke added two hits and an RBI for the Buttermakers (11-12, 8-8), who will face Tracy on Wednesday.

LUVERNE -- Zach Olson had three hits and three RBIs, and Jared Pick had three hits and three runs to lead Luverne, which scored nine unanswered runs to earn the victory.
James Fisher and Micah Boomgaarden each added two RBIs for the Redbirds, who will host Adrian in a rematch in the first round of the playoffs Wednesday night.
Jordon Kontz and Matt Gades each had two hits, and Cody Kontz had three RBIs to lead Adrian, which held a 3-0 lead going into the bottom of the third inning.
