WORTHINGTON -- Charges were filed Thursday against a Wilmont man for sale and possession of methamphetamine.

Jamie William Balk, 34, was charged with third- and fourth-degree controlled substance crimes in Nobles County District Court after a confidential informant (CI) allegedly purchased meth from Balk.

According to the criminal complaint, the CI told a law enforcement officer he had purchased meth from Balk in the past. In a controlled phone call, a man believed to be Balk told the CI he would see what he could do to obtain meth for the CI.

Another call later that day netted the information that Balk had the meth. The CI went to the residence where the buy was to take place. He walked up to the door, knocked and during a subsequent conversation asked, "What's this?" and was told, "It's fluff. It's not quite a half."

The two agreed on a price, and the CI left to meet law enforcement at a pre-determined location. He identified the man who had sold him the meth as Balk. The meth later tested positive as .9 grams of meth.
