WINDOM -- Eleven acts participating in the 31st annual Cottonwood County Fair Talent Contest hosted Aug. 18 in Windom took home over $ 900 in prize money.
Molly Cothran of Windom won the Open Division with her vocal solo, "Anyway." Taking first place in the Teen Division was Faith Willard of Windom for her vocal performance of "Forget about the Boy." Alaina Wolff of Jackson took first place in the Pre-Teen Division with a vocal and guitar solo of an original composition, "Perfect."
Taking second place in the Open Division was Michael Barber of Westbrook for his vocal rendition of "Stand by Me." The third-place winner was a band, Plaid Get-Up, made up of Megan Johnson, Heath Quiring and Hunter Quiring, all of Mountain Lake, and Andrew Paulson of Jackson. They performed "Pontoon" Elizabeth Grave of Windom took fourth place with her vocal solo, "By the Sea."
In the Teen Division, second place went to Donny Pankonin of Bingham Lake for his original guitar composition. Rachelle Adrian of Mountain Lake won third place for her vocal solo, "Steady My Heart."
Isabelle Grave of Windom won second place in the Pre-Teen Division for her solo, "Tomorrow." Third place went to Callie Coleman of Ormsby, who sang "Set Fire to the Rain." Rounding out the winners in this division was a vocal duet, "Dream for Your Inspiration," performed by Hailey Handevidt and Kendall Kaplinger of Jackson.
