GRAND FORKS, N.D. - A Devils Lake woman has been charged with embezzling more than $2000 from the Spirit Lake Sioux Tribe.
Kimberly Carlson, 42, pleaded not guilty to two counts of theft Wednesday in Grand Forks' federal court.
The U.S. attorney's office alleges that Carlson, while working at the Spirit Lake Office of Victim Assistance, misused the tribe's money and property.
The maximum sentence for each count is five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Carlson's trial is set to start Nov. 9 in Grand Forks.
