WINDOM -- Charges were filed Thursday against a Windom woman who allegedly sold meth to a confidential informant in a school zone.

Tanaya Marie Renquist, 21, of Windom, is charged with a second-degree controlled substance crime in a school zone, a count which carries a maximum penalty of 25 years incarceration and/or a $50,000 fine.

The criminal complaint states on April 26 a Windom police officer received a call from a confidential informant (CI) who had arranged to purchase 1.75 grams of ice methamphetamine from Renquist for $200.

Authorities followed the CI to Perkins Creek Apartments, across the street from the Windom Area High School. Through the listening device on the CI, officers heard the CI talk with a female inside the apartment.

The officers met the CI at a prearranged location, and the CI handed an officer a gum package that contained a small baggie with a white crystal substance inside.

The CI said Renquist, an Asian male and an unknown female were inside the apartment. The CI said Renquist had gone into her bedroom to get the ice and then handed the gum package with the baggie to the CI.

Bail was set for $3,000 with conditions or $7,000 without conditions. Renquist's next court appearance is scheduled for 4 p.m. Monday.
