Woman faces meth sales charge

SLAYTON -- An Avoca woman accused of selling methamphetamine is scheduled to make her first court appearance Monday in Murray County District Court.

Christine Kay Kirchner, 23, is charged with a second-degree controlled substance crime, a felony that carries a maximum penalty of 25 years incarceration and/or a fine of $500,000.

According to the criminal complaint, there were two documented drug buys with a confidential informant (CI).

The first took place Aug. 30, 2007. The CI, equipped with a transcorder and monitored by the Buffalo Ridge Drug Task Force, met with Kirchner on the 100 block of Mill Street in Currie, where Kirchner sold the CI approximately 2.1 grams of meth.

The second, on Sept. 11, 2007, took place on the 3000 block of 20th Street in Slayton, where Kirchner sold the CI approximately 1.4 grams of meth.
