GRAND FORKS, N.D. - A woman who authorities said was drunk when she took her barefoot daughters out in subzero temperatures last February plans to spend six months at a home for single parent families working with drug and alcohol problems.
Breanna Prather will be on probation for three years for child neglect.
The 22-year-old Prather told Judge Sonja Clapp on Wednesday that she has a "lot of guilt" and said, "I know that what I did was wrong."
Authorities say Prather, who now lives in Fargo, took her barefoot daughters, ages 2 and 5, outside in Grand Forks when the temperature was 13 below zero and the wind chill factor was 37 below.
Defense attorney David Ogren said Prather has been sober for more than five months and attends support meetings three times a week.
