WORTHINGTON — A Worthington man appeared in court Tuesday morning on burglary and theft charges.
Bryan Cowdin, 38, is alleged to have been involved in the burglary of a Round Lake residence that was reported Aug. 31. The victim told law enforcement that Cowdin had broken into the locked home and stolen an iPhone X worth $1,100 and a bottle of cologne worth $98. The victim suspected Cowdin because while calling the police, they were looking through the windows of Cowdin's car and could see the bottle of cologne in the console.
When law enforcement arrived at Cowdin's home, Cowdin reportedly refused to come outside, but after the officer left, Cowdin then returned the stolen items to the victim.
Cowdin received a court summons to appear on the following charges: second-degree burglary — a felony that carries a maximum possible sentence of 10 years in prison and/or a $20,000 fine — gross misdemeanor theft and misdemeanor trespassing. If convicted, Cowdin will be sentenced based on criminal history.
Cowdin is currently incarcerated in Nobles County Jail on unrelated charges.
