WORTHINGTON -- A Worthington man is in jail after allegedly pinning a Worthington Police Officer between a door and its frame and refusing to follow directions from authorities.

Joshua Wickre, 23, is charged with terroristic threats, fourth-degree assault of a peace officer, obstructing the legal process and two counts of disorderly conduct.

The complaint states authorities were called to the home of Wickre's mother at approximately 1 p.m. Tuesday regarding a fight. They observed Wickre, his mother and her boyfriend arguing near the side door of a residence on Diagonal Road.

As an officer approached, Wickre and his mother went in the residence and locked the door. The officer knocked several times and identified himself as police without any results. The boyfriend provided a key, but as the officer unlocked and opened the door, Wickre allegedly pushed the door shut, hitting the officer in the chest and pinning him between the door and frame.

After the officer removed himself from the door, he tried to pull Wickre out from behind it, but the man slumped to the floor and refused to follow directions. Another officer grabbed Wickre's legs while the first controlled his arms, and Wickre was pulled out of the residence.

As he was being taken from the house, Wickre rolled to the side and appeared to be preparing to spit at one of the officers, but the officer turned Wickre's head.

Wickre allegedly threatened the arresting officer while en route to the Nobles County Jail, speaking about wanting to kill him because of being arrested.

An officer interviewed Wickre's mother, who said Wickre and her boyfriend had gotten into a fight after the boyfriend had punched her several times.

Bond was set Thursday at $30,000, with conditions of release including an alcohol monitor, no use or possession of alcohol or drugs and no contact with the victims.

If convicted on all counts, Wickre faces a maximum penalty of seven years and 180 days incarceration and/or $18,000.

Wickre has previous convictions of third-degree assault, first-degree criminal damage to property, fleeing a peace officer, driving while impaired, under 21 consumption, possession of marijuana and second-degree burglary.
