WORTHINGTON -- An arrest warrant has been issued for a Worthington man accused of sexually assaulting a toddler.

Jeronimo D. Chavez, 23, faces three counts of of felony first-degree criminal sexual conduct in Nobles County District Court. Each offense is punishable up to 30 years imprisonment, a $40,000 fine or both.

The charges stem from an investigation that began in April when a sexual misconduct act was reported to local law enforcement. The charges were filed on the basis of an examination and interview of the child at Child’s Voice in Sioux Falls, S.D.

A vast majority of the information in the criminal complaint is being withheld due to the sensitivity of the case.

Because Chavez’s whereabouts are unknown, a mugshot was unavailable.
