Worthington woman dies in Thursday afternoon crash

Two-vehicle crash took place at intersection of West Oxford Street and Fairway Lane

WORTHINGTON — A 45-year-old Worthington woman has died as a result of injuries suffered in a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon in Worthington.

According to a press release issued Friday morning by the Worthington Police Department, the WPD responded at 4:49 p.m. Thursday to the crash, which took place at the intersection of West Oxford Street and Fairway Lane in Worthington. A 2007 Ford Expedition driven by a 31-year-old female from Omaha, Nebraska was traveling east on West Oxford and was stopped in the eastbound lane, yielding to westbound traffic to make a left turn onto Fairway Lane, when a 2017 Kia Forte driven by the Worthington woman struck the rear of the Expedition.

The name of the crash victim was being withheld by law enforcement Friday morning. According to multiple social media sources, Heather Kleve of Worthington was the individual who died in the incident.

Occupants of the Expedition sustained no injuries.

Assisting at the scene was Worthington Fire/Rescue, the Nobles County Sheriff's Office and Sanford Ambulance.
