REGIONAL — Nobles County recorded one new case of COVID-19 in the 24-hour period that ended at 4 p.m. Tuesday, with the total number of positive cases in the county at 1,635 since testing began, according to Wednesday morning’s status update by the Minnesota Department of Health.
Six Nobles County residents have died thus far from the novel coronavirus.
The number of positive cases in neighboring counties was 126 in Cottonwood County (one new case), 53 in Jackson County, 47 in Murray County, 28 in Rock County and 15 in Pipestone County.
Statewide, MDH reported five new COVID-19 deaths as of 4 p.m. Tuesday, bringing the total now to 1,397, with another 35 individuals considered to be probable victims of the virus. Among the dead are 1,102 individuals who had resided in long-term care or assisted living facilities. Currently, there are 340 patients hospitalized in the state, including 160 individuals in intensive care units.
Thus far, 33,763 Minnesotans have tested positive for COVID-19, with 304 new cases during the last 24-hour period ending at 4 p.m. Tuesday. Of those who have tested positive for the novel coronavirus since testing began are 3,450 health care workers. Statewide, 29,707 individuals no longer need to be in isolation.
The Iowa Department of Public Health reported that Dickinson County currently has 215 positive COVID-19 cases (with 92 recovered), Osceola County 49 (45 recovered) and Lyon County 37 (30 recovered) as of Wednesday. Dickinson County has two deaths from the novel coronavirus.
Thus far, there have been 26,619 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Iowa, with 16,819 of those now deemed recovered. There have been 691 deaths reported in Iowa.
Nationwide, there were 2,348,956 positive cases of COVID-19 and 121,279 deaths as of 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to information from Johns Hopkins University.
