REGIONAL — Nobles County recorded one new case of COVID-19 in the 24-hour period that ended at 4 p.m. Monday, with the total number of positive cases in the county at 1,652 since testing began, according to Tuesday morning’s status update by the Minnesota Department of Health. Nobles County Public Health reports 1,629 of the individuals testing positive were beyond the 10-day isolation period as of Monday.

Six Nobles County residents have died thus far from the novel coronavirus.

Current statistics in neighboring counties are:

  • Cottonwood County: 133 positive cases (one new case); 125 beyond the isolation period.

  • Jackson County: 54 positive cases; 53 beyond the isolation period.

  • Murray County: 51 positive cases (one new case).

  • Pipestone County: 25 positive cases (five new cases); one death. Good Samaritan Society of Pipestone was also recently listed to the region's list of congregate care facilities with exposures.

  • Rock County: 30 positive cases.

Statewide: 36,303 positive cases of COVID-19 (444 new cases in the last 24-hour period); 31,601 individuals recovered; 1,441 deaths (10 new deaths) with another 35 deemed probable victims of the virus.

Among the dead are 1,131 individuals who had resided in long-term care or assisted living facilities. Currently, 270 patients are hospitalized, including 136 individuals in intensive care units. Since testing began, 3,638 Minnesota health care workers have tested positive for COVID-19.

Iowa (according to Iowa Department of Public Health): 28,944 positive cases; 23,078 recovered; 713 deaths.

  • Dickinson County: 240 positive cases; 127 recovered; two deaths.

  • Osceola County: 51 positive cases; 47 recovered.

  • Lyon County: 39 positive cases; 38 recovered.

Nationwide (according to Johns Hopkins University): 2,683,000 positive cases; 705,203 recovered; 129,545 deaths.
