REGIONAL — Two Nobles County and two Jackson County residents, along with one resident each in Pipestone and Rock counties, are the latest to test positive for COVID-19, according to Tuesday morning’s situation update from the Minnesota Department of Health. The test results are from a 24-hour period that ended at 4 p.m. Monday.

Pipestone County also recorded its 10th death from the novel coronavirus, an individual between the ages of 95 and 99. No other information was available.

Minnesota’s cumulative number of confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 now stands at 91,422, with 82,833 beyond the 10-day isolation period. There were 513 new cases of the coronavirus reported in the 24-hour period, along with 10 deaths.

Statewide, 1,979 individuals have now died from COVID-19, with another 52 people believed to have died from the virus but were not tested. Among the dead are 1,430 residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities.

As of Monday, 290 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 statewide, with 136 individuals in intensive care units. Thus far, 9,776 Minnesota health care workers have contracted the novel coronavirus.

A local snapshot of the virus shows the following cumulative totals since testing began:

  • Nobles County: 1,938 positive cases (23 within the 10-day isolation period as of Monday); 16 deaths.

  • Cottonwood County: 219 positive cases.

  • Jackson County: 136 positive cases; one death.

  • Murray County: 155 positive cases; two deaths.

  • Pipestone County: 215 positive cases; 10 deaths.

  • Rock County: 159 positive cases.

The Iowa Department of Health reports 81,209 cases of COVID-19 in its state since testing began, with 59,179 individuals considered recovered. Thus far, 1,285 deaths are blamed on COVID-19 in the state.

In northwest Iowa:

  • Lyon County: 265 positive cases; 169 recovered; three deaths.

  • Osceola County: 134 positive cases; 94 recovered.

  • Dickinson County: 486 positive cases; 401 recovered; six deaths.

Nationwide, Johns Hopkins University reports a cumulative total of 6,861,211 positive cases of COVID-19 in the United States as of 10:30 a.m. today, with 2,615,974 individuals deemed recovered. There have been 200,005 COVID-related deaths in the United States.
