Five more test positive for COVID-19 in Nobles County

REGIONAL — Nobles County recorded six new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24-hour period, while neighboring Minnesota counties reported no new cases according to this morning’s situation update from the Minnesota Department of Health.

Minnesota now reports 78,123 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 since testing began, with 70,175 beyond the 10-day isolation period. There were 1,047 new cases of the coronavirus reported in the last 24-hour period that closed at 4 p.m. Wednesday, along with seven deaths.

Statewide, 1,837 individuals have now died from COVID-19, with another 52 people believed to have died from the virus but were not tested. Among the dead are 1,348 residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities.

As of 4 p.m. Wednesday, 272 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 statewide, with 138 individuals in intensive care units. Thus far, 8,522 Minnesota health care workers have contracted the novel coronavirus.

A local snapshot of the virus shows the following cumulative totals since testing began:

  • Nobles County: 1,875 positive cases; 1,825 beyond the 10-day isolation period as of Monday; 13 deaths.

  • Cottonwood County: 202 positive cases.

  • Jackson County: 97 positive cases; one death.

  • Murray County: 143 positive cases; two deaths.

  • Pipestone County: 189 positive cases; nine deaths.

  • Rock County: 110 positive cases.

Congregate care facilities with current exposures to COVID-19 in this area include Adrian Country Living Cottages in Adrian, Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton, Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Ellsworth, Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne, Good Samaritan Society in Mountain Lake, The Lodge at Mountain Lake, Lindenwood Assisted Living in Slayton, and Falls Landing Assisted Living and Ridge View Estates, both in Pipestone.
The Iowa Department of Health reports 66,893 cases of COVID-19 in its state since testing began, with 48,526 individuals considered recovered. Thus far, 1,134 deaths are blamed on COVID-19 in the state.

In northwest Iowa:

  • Lyon County: 152 positive cases; 133 recovered; two deaths.

  • Osceola County: 99 positive cases; 83 recovered.

  • Dickinson County: 432 positive cases; 370 recovered; six deaths.

Nationwide, Johns Hopkins University reports a cumulative total of 6,115,276 positive cases of COVID-19 as of 10:30 a.m. Thursday, with 2,231,757 individuals deemed recovered. There have been 185,958 COVID-related deaths in the United States.
