REGIONAL — Jackson County recorded 12 new confirmed or probable cases of COVID-19 during the 24-hour reporting period that ended at 4 p.m. Saturday. Cottonwood, Murray and Nobles counties, meanwhile, each added two new confirmed or probable cases, while Rock County had one new confirmed positive COVID-19 case and Pipestone County had no new cases.
The Minnesota Department of Health recorded 1,227 new cases of COVID-19 statewide, pushing the cumulative total of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases to 515,058 (positive and antigen tests), with 495,463 beyond the 10-day isolation period. Thus far, 39,093 Minnesota health care workers have contracted the virus.
Five new deaths were reported statewide during the 24-hour period, with three individuals residing in a private residence and two in a long-term care/assisted living facility. Minnesota’s death toll from the virus now stands at 6,830, including 4,268 residents of long-term care facilities.
A local snapshot of COVID-19, with current cumulative positive and probable test results and deaths as reported by MDH, recovery data (beyond the 10-day isolation period) as of March 25, and the percentage of residents who have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine as of Friday shows:
Nobles County: 3,912 cases; 3,842 recoveries; 47 deaths; 33.7%. As of Thursday, 14 residents were within their 10-day isolation period, including one child aged birth to 10; one individual aged 16 to 19, two individuals aged 20 to 25; four individuals aged 26 to 50; four individuals aged 51 to 64; and two individuals aged 65 and older.
Cottonwood County: 1,443 cases; 1,378 recoveries; 20 deaths; 33.8%.
Jackson County: 1,011 cases; 944 recoveries; 10 deaths; 30.8%.
Murray County: 977 cases; 954 recoveries; eight deaths; 32.6%.
Pipestone County: 1,045 cases; 1,001 recoveries; 24 deaths; 30.1%.
Rock County: 1,190 cases; 1,159 recoveries; 18 deaths; 27.9%.
The Iowa Department of Health reports 377,878 cases of COVID-19 since testing began. Thus far, 5,725 deaths are blamed on the novel coronavirus in the state.
In northwest Iowa:

Dickinson County: 2,410 positive cases (seven new cases); 1,980 recovered; 41 deaths.
Lyon County: 1,502 positive cases (no new cases); 1,415 recovered; 41 deaths.
Osceola County: 737 positive cases (one new cases); 665 recovered; 16 deaths.
Johns Hopkins University reports a nationwide cumulative total of 30,224,601 positive cases of COVID-19 as of 10:30 a.m. today. Thus far, 548,876 Americans have died from the virus.
