ST. PAUL — Minnesota reported more than 11,828 new cases of COVID-19 Friday, Jan. 21, as positive test rates remained at an all-pandemic high for the state.
The seven-day rolling average positive test rate has stopped growing Jan. 10 after reaching a record high of 23.7% the day before, according to the most recently available data for that figure.
The positive test rate figure stalling could signal a peak in the current wave of infections — Twin Cities COVID-19 wastewater surveillance released this week by the Metropolitan Council showed the most viral content on Jan. 9 or 10.
Hospitalizations for COVID-19 remained high in Friday's report. Of the 1,571 hospitalized in Minnesota, 241 were in an intensive care unit. The state health department reported 36 deaths Friday.
Following are the Minnesota Department of Health's COVID-19 case rates, deaths, hospitalizations and vaccinations as of Friday. Because all data are preliminary, some numbers and totals may change from one day to the next.
