WORTHINGTON — As communities are urged to practice physical distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic, Sanford Worthington is encouraging patients to take advantage of video visits with their health care provider.

“We’ve had questions about whether or not to come into the clinic, or if we can do this a different way,” said Jennifer Weg, executive director at Sanford Worthington. “For a lot of those visits, we have been able to switch to video visits, so patients can meet with their provider and still receive high quality, safe care.”

Sanford Health offers virtual care options for a variety of health concerns, including aches, pains and everyday care, as well as urgent care.

“Even though it’s not the same as an in-person visit, virtual care is a way for us to see you from the comfort and safety of your home,” said Kevin Ree, DO, a family medicine physician at Sanford Worthington. “We are still here for our patients, and making sure they get the care they need in a safe way is our highest priority.”

Patients are encouraged to contact their Sanford Health clinic to evaluate whether a new or upcoming appointment should be in-person or virtual care. If the patient has not completed a video visit before, staff are available to help walk through the simple process for setting it up.

“Together we can determine if we still need to see you in person, or whether a virtual care visit is a good fit,” Ree said. “For many scenarios, like prescription refills or following up on test results, virtual care is a wonderful option, and patients of all ages are finding it easy and convenient to use.”
