GRAND FORKS—The UND women's basketball program's 2019 recruiting class added one of the best players in northwest Minnesota late Monday night, July 16.

Roseau's Kacie Borowicz, a 5-foot-8 guard and senior-to-be, has announced her commitment to play for the Fighting Hawks.

Borowicz averaged 26.5 points and 6.5 rebounds for the 26-6 Rams, who won their fourth consecutive section title and finished runner-up at the Minnesota state tournament last year.

Borowicz, who also added 4.2 assists and 3.9 steals per game, is a two-time all-state pick after being named honorable mention as a freshman.

She has 2,740 career points.

"I like that it's close to home," Borowicz said. "I have a huge support system from my family and they can come watch me and be close."

Borowicz said it was a difficult decision to pick UND. She also heavily considered Minnesota State Moorhead, where her older sister Kiley was a freshman last season. Their mother also went to Moorhead.

Kiley was a three-time all-state selection for the Rams. She was the Dragons' top sub last season, averaging more than 7 points per game.

Borowicz is the seventh member of UND's 2019 recruiting class.

Kacie and Kiley also have a younger sister, Katie, a sophomore who was also an all-state pick last year.
