MINNEAPOLIS - Jess Myers will join Forum Communications Co. next month as a college hockey reporter.
Myers will primarily cover University of Minnesota hockey, but also supplement the company’s coverage of other college programs.
He will be based in the Twin Cities and work for Forum News Service. The wire service is owned and operated by Forum Communications, a family-owned newspaper group with news media properties in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
“We are excited to expand our hockey coverage in Minnesota and add Jess to the team,” said Steve Wagner, director of content for Forum Communications. “Jess brings talent, energy and passion to covering college hockey. He will provide terrific insight into the Gopher hockey program.”
Myers has covered hockey for The Athletic, USA Hockey Magazine, 1500ESPN.com and numerous media outlets and wire services. He also was one of the founders of Inside College Hockey, a website dedicated to the sport.
"College hockey has been a love and passion of mine since a cold, snowy Friday night in December of 1984, when I watched North Dakota battle Minnesota before a packed house at the old Ralph in Grand Forks,” Myers said. “I was hooked immediately, and that healthy addiction has led to more than three decades of writing and 26 trips to the NCAA Frozen Four. I am delighted and excited for this opportunity to be a part of the Forum Communications team and to contribute to expanded coverage of this great game in the region."
Additionally, Myers co-hosts the weekly “Hockey Half Hour with Jess Myers” on ESPN radio during the college season. Myers has also written children’s books about hockey and other sports.
Forum News Service distributes news, sports and other specialty journalism content to more than 120 newspapers, including about 100 in Minnesota.
