Jack Albert Hord

Jack Albert Hord, age 86, was born on June 6, 1930, in San Angelo, TX, the son of Tandy and Jennie Belle (Smith) Hord. Jack served 20 years in the United States Army from October of 1947 to October of 1967. He served with Company A 2nd Battalion Infantry Division "The Big Red One". Jack spent a significant amount of time at Fort Riley, KS and was most proud of his service there. He did two tours of duty in Germany. Jack married Elizabeth in California and they had one son Robert. After their divorce, he married Fanny from Germany and they had Jimmy who died in a motorcycle accident. They divorced and Jack married Ruth Stevens on December 17, 1977 in Norwalk, CA. Jack was a long time member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, and the local Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Posts. He was an avid fisherman and Lake Sarah, ballroom dancer, and supporter of the Republican party, all of which he enjoyed doing with Ruth. Jack died on Friday, January 20, 2017, at the Crossroads Care Center in Worthington, MN.

Jack is survived by son, Pastor Robert Hord who lives in Italy; two step daughters, Valerie (David) Clark of Texas, and Vivian Elsing of Chandler, MN; two sisters, Gladys Gerrard and Edith Linthicum. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; sister, Betty Linthicum, and one brother Alvin.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at 3:00 p.m., at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington, MN, with Pastor Robert Bartlett officiating. Burial will be in the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington.
