Tracy Ann (Flatebo) Luitjens, age 57, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2018 surrounded by her family at Carondelet St. Mary's Hospital in Tucson, AZ. She experienced a spontaneous brain bleed as a result of undetected acute leukemia.
She was born February 14, 1961, in Heron Lake, MN, the daughter of Dale Flatebo and Patricia Volk. Tracy graduated from Heron Lake-Okabena High School in 1979 and then studied Cosmetology at Stewart's in Sioux Falls, SD.
On April 25, 1981, Tracy married Steve Luitjens at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Heron Lake, MN. They made their home in Round Lake, MN, and she worked at The Barbers as a hairstylist in Worthington, MN and later with Smith Trucking in Round Lake. In 1987, they moved to Worthington, where Tracy provided in-home daycare and raised her two daughters until school-age. After that, she was a paraprofessional and librarian at St. Mary's Catholic School and also a cheerleading coach for Worthington High School. During that time, Tracy enjoyed boating and hosting various family and friend gatherings by the lake.
In preparation for retirement, Steve and Tracy purchased a home in Chandler, AZ in 2008. Tracy spent several winters enjoying the warm weather before Steve joined her permanently in 2013. Tracy's interests included card-making, scrapbooking, cross-stitching, gardening, traveling, shopping, and spending time with her growing family.
Tracy is survived by her husband, Steve; daughters Katie (Todd) Larson of Spirit Lake, IA and Kelli (Travis) Fagerness of Tucson, AZ; four grandchildren (Rilee, Stella, Tanner, and Scarlett); and many other relatives and close friends.
