Alta Mae Baumann

Alta Mae Baumann, age 98, was born on August 15, 1921, in Washta, IA, the daughter of Arthur and Esther (Smith) Jenness. She graduated from Quimby High School in 1939. Alta Mae married Orville Baumann Sr. on February 23, 1941, in Lakefield, MN. Alta Mae worked as a homemaker and farm wife. After purchasing the John Deere dealership, she became the bookkeeper for the business. Alta Mae was also a Sunday school teacher and member of the church choir. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and baking cakes and cookies for the implement employees. She also loved her cactus plants. Alta Mae passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2020, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Lakefield, MN.

Alta Mae is survived by her daughter, Roberta (John) Luft of Lakefield, MN; son, Orville (Joyce) Baumann of Lakefield, MN; four grandchildren, Darci (Nathan) Holt, Kelli (Tim) Bosma, Keith (Jolene) Baumann, and Kari (Michael) Byam, and two brothers, LeRoy Jenness and Miron (Louise) Jenness. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son Keith; baby grandson; four brothers, Elvin, Chesley, Wesley, and Alfred, and three sisters, Irma Jenness, Lola Perrett, and Alma Hendricksen.

Private family services will be held on Friday, May 1, 2020, at 11:00 a.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Lakefield, MN.
