Betty (Knuth nee Anderson) Lancaster

Betty J. Lancaster, 96, died Friday, Nov. 20, 2020 at Encore assisted living in Mahtomedi, MN. Betty was born January 4, 1924, in Worthington, MN, the daughter of Victor and Agnes Anderson. Betty grew up on a farm near Worthington. She attended Worthington High School where she was active in journalism. Upon graduation, she attended the local Junior College for a year followed by a year at Hamline University. In 1943, she married Charles Knuth, who was a flight instructor in the US Army Air Corp in Indiana. They had one son, Tom. Her husband Charles died in a flight training accident in 1944. Betty and her infant son return to Worthington, where they lived with her mother and father. On November 14, 1981, she married Warren Lancaster in Worthington, and they moved to Forest Grove, OR, where she was active in local affairs and her church. She was a homemaker with interest in playing bridge, reading, travelling, bird watching and growing flowers. Often there were bouquets in the house. Betty was a quiet person but with a continuous grateful attitude. Warren said her response to assistance or help was always a thank you. Surviving to mourn her loss are her son, Tom, grandsons David and Andrew, granddaughter Rebecca, and 7 great-grandchildren.
