Brian T. Standafer
Brian T. Standafer, 57, of Worthington, MN passed away on June 28, 2021 after a courageous six year fight against stomach cancer. Brian was born on July 23, 1963 to Lloyd and Maree Standafer. He was the youngest of seven children and cherished his memories growing up on the farm, learning from his siblings, and keeping his parents on their toes. At the age of six, while attending Vacation Bible School, he made the decision to dedicate his life to Jesus. He enjoyed racing Yamaha dirt bikes with his brothers, hanging out with his nephews, playing football, snowmobiling, and his mom’s baking. Brian was a lifetime lover of the Minnesota Vikings and the annual Standafer family vacation in northern MN. In his adult life, Brian loved hanging out with his son-in-laws, cooking and baking, playing games, and the joys of everyday life with his family. Throughout his journey with cancer, he could often be seen walking through the park with his Goldendoodle, Doc.
Brian borrowed a quarter from the “cute girl” in class at the young age of 14 and spent the rest of his life repaying that debt. After graduating from Worthington High School class of 1981 alongside some of his dearest lifelong friends, he continued his education at Pipestone AVTI. On August 11, 1984, Brian married his high school sweetheart, Shelley Pfingsten, in Worthington.
With his easy going personality and quick wit, Brian made a lifelong career in sales, most recently in the field of Animal Health, which he truly loved.
Brian dreamed of being a boy dad, so God knowingly blessed him with three girls. Being a dad and husband was what Brian lived for; and in the end, fought for. He loved taking his girls boating, spending hours preparing for Christmas, and following all of their activities.
Although the title “dad” was a great honor, Brian always said that he knew he was meant to be a grandpa. His greatest joy was making memories with his eight grandchildren.
Brian’s greatest desire and hope is to see all of his friends and family join him in heaven.
Brian is survived by his wife of 36 years, Shelley; his three daughters, Tonisha Miller (Josh), Keeli Iten (Josh), and Lexi Standafer, all of Worthington; eight grandchildren, Jaxton, Blayke, Raya, Taezyn, Jayde, Cruz, Grayli and Haze; his six siblings, Daryl (Jan) Standafer, Julie (Del) Sheets, Nona (Dave) Neilson, Lon (Starr) Standafer, Paul (Diane) Standafer, and Earl (Sue) Standafer and their families; his mother-in-law Violet Pfingsten; and his seven in-laws and their families.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Maree Standafer; father-in-law, Vernon Pfingsten; and nephew, Dustin Obermoller.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 1st from 4:00-7:00 pm at Benson Funeral Home, Worthington. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, July 2nd at 11:00 am at Lakeside Church, Worthington, with a burial at Worthington Memorial Gardens.
