Cheryl (Sherri) Rae Nelson
CHERYL (Sherri) RAE NELSON, age 73, of Round Lake, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 5, 2021, at her home. She was born August 28, 1948, in Worthington, to Walt and Geraldine Corey. Cheryl lived in many different towns growing up, many of those years in Worthington.
Sherri married Steve Nelson on November 10, 1988. The couple moved to Round Lake where they made their home. She worked various jobs including waitressing at the Windmill Cafe and Sather’s Candy Company before deciding to stay home to be a farm wife/homemaker while Steve grew the crops. She loved spending time with her husband, dancing and showing her grand kids how to dance. Sherri had a passion for 60’s rock and roll music and the Beach Boys were one of her favorite bands, she loved attending 60’s rock and roll shows when they came close to the area. Sherri also enjoyed going to Little House on the Prairie reunions in Walnut Grove as this was one of her favorite TV shows. Her favorite time of year was Christmas and loved watching Christmas movies. She was a very caring person-always knew the birthdays, anniversaries of everyone she knew. Sherri was always a person to call and was always there to listen. She loved her kids, grandkids and family more than anything. She was everyone’s Mom when we grew up on Dover Street. She was genuinely concerned about everyone she knew and she always had an extra plate and always wanted to make sure everyone had enough to eat. She made sure all the kids were taken care of before herself. Sherri was a fighter until the end, she would never give up. She loved spending time with her dog Bella.
