Craig Alan Nienkerk

Craig Alan Nienkerk, age 67, of Worthington, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2019, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Craig was born on November 13, 1951, in Worthington to parents Merle and Lois (Rust) Nienkerk. Craig graduated from Worthington High School in 1970. Following high school, he worked with his father at Nienkerk Construction. He married Lori (Wachter) Nienkerk on April 28, 1973, and they were blessed with two children. Craig and Lori purchased Nienkerk Construction in 1994. Craig sold the business and retired in September 2018. Craig was a member of First Lutheran Church, a retired fire fighter, and a member of the Worthington Country Club. Craig enjoyed golfing, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren. Craig is survived by his wife, Lori; one son, Tyler (Shannon) of Worthington, MN; daughter, Emily of Mankato, MN; five grandchildren, and a grandson on the way, Preston, Zoie, Jaxon, Collin, Kane, and Estelle. Craig has two brothers, Monte (Kay) of Center City, MN and Bryce (Kellie) of Brandon, SD, and three sisters, Dawn Demers of Rapid City, SD, Nyla (Mike) Ignazzitto of Marietta, GA, and Joy (Kenneth) Rachuy of Fairmont, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law, and his aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., at the First Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN, with Pastor Jeanette McCormick officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 15, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, MN and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Worthington Cemetery. Benson Funeral Home in Worthington is in charge of the arrangements.
