Craig Stewart of Worthington, MN passed away on Monday, July 26. Born December 20, 1932 in Los Angeles, California to Henry and Marie Stewart, Craig positively impacted many lives with his encouragement, positivity, and care. Up until his last day, he maintained his curiosity and quick wit. His chosen professions included being an educator and a private business consultant. He spent many years working at North Park University in Chicago, IL and was a founder of Providence Academy in Plymouth, MN.

Craig is survived by his four children: John (Kris) Stewart of Worthington; Jean (Geof) Woodberry of White Bear Lake, MN; Ann Gillian (John) Wells of South Barrington, IL; and Beth (Mike) Scotkovsky of Arlington Heights, IL. He was also blessed with 11 grandchildren: Ian and Tad Stewart; Paige (Brandon) Klok, Natalie Woodberry, Andrea (Jairus) Justus, Layne, Morgan, and Katherine Wells; Matthew and Timothy Scotkovsky; and Alex (Maggie) McConaghy and one great grandson Liam. In addition, he is survived by his brother Neil (Jody) Stewart. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Hank Stewart, and his precious wife Elizabeth.

Craig will be remembered for his faith in the Lord, his desire to help others, and his thirst for knowledge. He will also be remembered for his enduring love for his “angel” Elizabeth whom he lost last year just prior to the pandemic.

The family is grateful to Ecumen Meadows of Worthington for the loving care they bestowed upon Craig and how they allowed him to share his many talents. A highlight for the entire family was when he was chosen Volunteer of the Year for the Ecumen Senior Care Network of Minnesota in 2020 for the programs he led for people with memory struggles, his clown routine, and numerous other activities. Over the last couple of years, Craig enjoyed being a Pen Pal with students at Worthington District 518 Community Education. Their letters to him brought him great joy. The family also wishes to acknowledge Beth Prins for her love and care of both Craig and Elizabeth and the Sunset Hospice Cottage for their care during his final few days.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Ecumen Meadows Benevolence Fund (1801 College Way, Worthington, MN 56187).

Graveside services will be held for both Craig and Elizabeth at Union Cemetery in Crystal Lake, IL on Friday, August 6th at noon followed by a reception from 1:00-3:00 pm at Hope Covenant Church, also in Crystal Lake. In addition, the family will hold a visitation only at Living Waters Covenant Church in Worthington, MN from 3:30-5:00 pm on Saturday, August 14th.
