Marjorie Jean Wendt

Marjorie Jean Wendt, born January 2, 1926, to Walter and Doris (Middlen) Yager in Sioux Falls, SD, died November 1, 2019 at South Shore Care Center, Worthington, MN.

After living in South Dakota, the family moved to Adrian, MN where she graduated from High School. After attending Nettleton College in Sioux Falls, SD for secretarial skills, she went on to work for the USO and Red Cross at the Army base at the Joe Foss Field, where she met and married James Wendt. They enjoyed many years traveling the country for his job assignments.

During these years, she also volunteered for the American Red Cross, and raised their children. In 1971, she began working for S.M.O.C, Nobles County Family Service and then with the State of Minnesota Job Service.

After retirement, she did volunteer work thru her church and Nobles County Historical Society. She spent many happy hours at crafting, yarn work, scrapbooking, reading, searching the family’s genealogy, and enjoying her grandchildren.

Marjorie was an extremely talented craft maker, and could do anything she put her mind to. She was an amazing example to her children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Doris Yager; James Wendt; infant daughter, Beth Marie Wendt; sisters, Mary Pattern and Shirley DeBates; infant grandson, Shawn Wendt, and infant great granddaughter, Colette Gabel.

Marjorie is survived by her children, Daniel (Roberta) Wendt, Judith (Les) Johnson, and Charlotte (Colin) Roetman; brother, Paul (Diane) Yager; nieces and nephews; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

She will be greatly missed, our “Tiny but Mighty Mom”!

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at 1:00 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Worthington, MN, with Rev. Dr. Daren I. Flinck officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be held in the Grand Prairie Cemetery near Ellsworth, MN.
