Mary Dolan Ronk


<p>Mary Dolan Ronk, 82, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2019. She was born on March 8, 1937, in Worthington, MN, the daughter of Edward and Vera McNallan Dolan. She spent her youth in the small town of Worthington, MN, where she graduated from Worthington High School. She received her bachelor’s degree at Creighton University in Omaha, NE. While attending Creighton she met the love of her life, Richard Ronk and on February 27, 1960, they were married in St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Omaha. NE. Richard and Mary were happily married for 51 years. They left the Midwest for the East Coast, where Richard began a 38-year long career with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in Washington, D.C. Mary found her own career as a teacher for 23 years with the Prince William County school system in Northern Virginia. She spent many joyful years teaching 1st and 3rd graders at Rippon Elementary School in Woodbridge, VA. She went back to school in her late 30’s to earn her master’s degree in Education from George Mason University, Fairfax, VA. Mary was a parishioner of St. Mary of Sorrows Catholic Church. Mary will be most remembered for her love and devotion to her family, her natural gift for teaching children, always being a true friend, and generosity towards everyone around her. Mary Ronk is preceded in death by her husband, Richard J. Ronk. She is survived by her children Paul Ronk, Fairfax, VA, Theresa Ronk, Sterling, VA, Jane Arrington (husband Gregg), Greensboro, NC, and two grandsons, Nathan and John Arrington, Greensboro, NC. She is also survived by two brothers Edward Dolan, Worthington, MN, and Robert Dolan, Chicago, IL. The funeral will be held on Friday, October 4 at 10:30 a.m. EST at St. Mary of Sorrows Historic Church, Ox Road & Fairfax Station Rd, Fairfax Station, VA, 22039. </p>
