May Helen (Slater) Johnson, 95, was born on May 13, 1926 in Iona, Minnesota to William and Odelia Hermeling. May joined the Lord on September 13, 2021 in Boca Raton, Florida surrounded by love on all sides. May was raised on the family farm with 11 brothers and sisters. After completing her education, she went on to marry her first love, Arthur William Slater on June 10, 1947. Together they raised 7 children. She was widowed in 1969 and married her second love, Arthur William Johnson, on July 24, 1971, adding 3 more children to the family.

She was placed on this earth to show us all what kindness, joy, love and peace looked like in human form. Her faith in God is a true testament to all of us. She was always the light and that shined in all that she did. She had the voice of an angel and the most beautiful blues eyes. Her smile made you smile right back.

May loved the Lord, her family, crosswords, crocheting, cross stitching, reading and she never said no to a game of scrabble. She liked to remind us how old she was and in her later years she would go from house to house never quite knowing (or caring) where she was going as long as there was going to be dessert there.

She is survived by her children: Susan (Duane) Hetchler, Patricia (Steve) Wemple, Paul (Janet) Slater, John (Shari) Slater, Ann Marie Crawford, Mary Jo Williamson, Dean (Judy) Johnson, Kurt (Linda) Johnson, brothers Bill (Shirley) Hermeling and Larry Hermeling, sisters Donna Kremer and Mary Jane Olson, 22 Grandchildren, 31 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great, Great Grandchildren.

May is preceeded in death by her parents, husbands (Arthur Slater and Arthur Johnson). Her sons Arthur Robert Slater and Christopher Johnson, grandson (Chad Slater), 5 sisters and 2 brothers.
