Myrtle Ann Klumper

Myrtle Ann Klumper passed away on June 30, 2019, at the age of 97, at Crossroads Care Center in Worthington, MN. Myrt was born on October 27, 1921, in rural Wilmont to Frederick and Martha (Zilm) Morawetz. She attended school in Reading and in Wilmont. Myrt and her friend Luella Schipper owned and operated “Myrt and Lu’s Café” after moving to Worthington in the 1940’s. Myrt later worked at Worthington Creamery and Produce where she met her future husband, John (Gerrit) Klumper. They were married for 66 years before his death on May 1, 2015. One of Myrt’s most enjoyable jobs was inserting advertisements into the newspaper at the Worthington Daily Globe. She will be remembered most as a loving wife, mom, grandma, and great-grandma to her family. Myrt enjoyed bowling, camping, collecting ceramic chickens, and spending time with family. She was a faithful member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, serving as church secretary for many years. Myrt was a person of deep faith and loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Myrt was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Fred and Dale, and an infant grandson, Scott. Myrt is survived by son, Wayne (Dea) Klumper of Worthington; daughters, Sandi Mead of Worthington, and Karen (Jon) McCormick of Sioux Falls, SD; eight grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren. A special thanks to Crossroads Care Center and Compassionate Care Hospice for their loving care. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at 10:30 a.m., at Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Worthington, MN, with Rev. Dr. Daren I. Flinck officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 5, 2019, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, MN. Burial will be in the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Benson Funeral Home in Worthington is in charge of the arrangements.
