Kenneth Duane Kluver was born on June 30, 1932 in Levey Township, Sac County, IA, to John and Katie (Fischer) Kluver. He grew up on a farm and moved to Okabena to work for his uncle, Hans Kluver. Ken was baptized at the First Presbyterian Church in Sac City, IA; this is also where he married Lorraine VanWesten on August 23, 1952.
Ken was strong, humble, hardworking and kindhearted. He owned a road construction business, spending many long days plowing snow and maintaining township roads. In 1968 he sold his business and worked for the city of Brewster. Always willing to pick up extra work, he drove school bus, worked in law enforcement, performed cemetery maintenance, and helped local farmers.
Ken was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Brewster, serving whenever and wherever there was a need. He volunteered for the Brewster Fire Department for 32 years and was a member of the El Riad Cycle Patrol, raising money for St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
Ken enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveling with family and friends. He loved a good game of pinochle, 500, or cribbage and was a voracious reader.
Kenneth died Thursday, February 4, 2021, in Worthington, MN. He is survived by his children, Melonie (Tony) Haberman of Brewster, Scott (Jenny) Kluver of Winona, Kelly Kluver of Winona, and Rachel Kluver of Waseca; his son-in-law John Obermeyer of St. Clair; ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and one sister, Carol Ann Sieck. Ken is reunited in heaven with his parents, wife Lorraine; son Jack; daughter Jessica; brothers Everett and Darrell; and sisters infant Ruth Lavonne, Dorothy Milton, and Ethel Blessington.
Blessed be the memory of Kenneth Duane Kluver.
