Kim Ivan Helms, age 69, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD surrounded by his family.
Kim was born to Ivan & Betty (Witt) Helms on June 2, 1952, in Adrian, MN. He was the youngest of four children. He grew up and attended school in Worthington, MN.
Kim married Dolly Morse on June 2, 1975, and raised 3 children in Worthington, MN.
Kim worked for many years as a contractor for the United States Postal Service as a Star Route driver. Over the years he also had owned his own Oil & Lube shop, worked at the Daily Globe as a driver, Worthington Cemetery, Wayne’s Feed and also drove a bread route. He enjoyed hunting with Carrie and his brothers, Randy, Shelby and his nephew Troy Helms, going on motorcycle trips, going to the MN State Fair, the MN Renaissance, collecting clocks, weekly shopping trips to Sioux Falls, SD, and daily or as often as possible drives around the lake. He lived his life for his family.
Kim is survived by his spouse, Dolly Helms of Worthington, MN; daughters, Dawn Mejia (Mario Dominguez) of Worthington, MN and Heather (Mark) Lindstrom of Brewster, MN; Carrie’s significant other Jose Fraga, of Worthington, MN; grandchildren, Natasha (Justin) Schultz of Fulda, MN, Nathan (Ashely) Mejia of Lake Benton, MN, Allison (Anguel) Licea of Stewartville, MN, Katelyn Lindstrom of Dundee, MN, Ethan Lindstrom of Heron Lake, MN; one great grandchild, Sophia Schultz of Fulda, MN; brothers, Randy (Connie) Helms of Ham Lake, MN and Shelby Helms of Anoka, MN and numerous nieces and nephews.
Kim was preceded in death by his daughter, Carrie Helms, and his parents.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, MN. Private family services will be held. Casket bearers will be Ethan Lindstrom, Mark Lindstrom, Mario Dominguez, Jose Fraga, Larry Woodbury, and Keith Fisher.
