Robert George Dieter, 96, of Brewster, MN passed away November 18, 2021. Bob was born on October 7, 1925, to George M Dieter and Esther (Frenz) Dieter of Brewster, Minnesota.
Robert graduated from Brewster High School in 1944. He then graduated from the U of M School of Agriculture in 1949.
Robert met his sweetheart, Jean Mobeck, in 1951 through mutual friends and they were married on February 21, 1953, despite a roaring winter blizzard that kept several family members from coming.
In early 1953, Bob was drafted into the Army, where after training in the states, he was deployed to Japan near the end of the Korean War and enjoyed learning of their culture while there. When he returned home, he resumed farming on his family land and kept active in farming until his passing.
During his youth and adulthood, Bob was involved in many clubs and organizations. He started the Tri-49ers 4-H club in 1949, and was involved in Rural Youth, Circle C, township board, school board, Farm Bureau, church committees, and was a charter member of the Nobles County Soybean Association.
One of Bob’s hobbies was gardening. He especially loved his roses and looked forward to planting the vegetables and other flowers every spring.
Family vacations when the kids were younger were always sandwiched between the end of the county fair and the start of school. In their later empty-nest years, they spent time camping and traveling around the states and national parks, including some of the grandkids in their adventures.
Bob loved his God, his family, his country and a good game of cribbage.
Robert is survived by his sweetheart of 68 years, Jean; 4 children, Deb (Dean) Mischke of Fall Creek, WI; Nancy (Drake) Snell of Tracy, MN; Julie (David) Dellman of Sioux Falls, SD; and David Dieter of Brewster, MN; 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; sister Dorothy (David) Gresch and several nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his parents George and Esther (Frenz) Dieter, brother Richard Dieter, and sisters Jane Selle and Betty Pond and granddaughters Hannah and Elizabeth.
