David R. Golisch

David R. Golisch, the son of Clarence and Catherine (Gray) Golisch, was born on November 30, 1938 in Decatur, IL. He grew up in Battle Creek, MI, Ft. McClellan, AL, L’Anse, MI, Reese, MI, and Watertown, WI. David attended high school at Northwestern Prep in Watertown, WI graduating in 1956. He graduated from Bethany Lutheran College in 1958, Valparaiso University in 1961 and achieved his masters in science from St. Mary’s College in Winona, MN in 1979. David was united in marriage to Janet Hayman on June 30, 1962 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Red Wing, MN. After their marriage they lived in Wauwatosa then Waukesha, WI until 1976 when they moved to Livonia, Mi. In 1994 they moved to Brooklyn Center, MN. He was a high school science and math teacher, computer programmer, and taught Driver’s Ed and 55 Alive classes during his career. After Janet passed away in April of 1999 David moved to Savage, MN until 2009 when he lived in Lansing, MI. In 2015 he moved to Fulda, MN. David passed away on Monday, May 1, 2023 at Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda at the age of 84. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where he sang in the Choir. David was active in his church over the years and also held offices in AAL and the Creation Science organization. He enjoyed computer games, science fiction, and watching auto racing and football. Survivors include his 4 children, Lisa (Robert) Trueblood of Winnebago, MN, Sara (Loren) Heintz of Fulda, MN, Timothy (Caryn) Golisch of Grand Ledge, MI and Benjamin (Susan) Golisch of Jackson, WI; 16 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Catherine Sternitzky of Marshfield, WI; brother, James (Carol) Golisch of Westfield, WI, and brother-in-law, Robert Bugge of Landsdale, PA. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, John Golisch and sisters, Mary Ann Hughes and Ruth Bugge.

Funeral services were held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Fulda, MN at 3:00 PM on Monday, May 8, 2023. Internment at Oakwood Cemetery Red Wing, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. The Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda is assisting the family with arrangements.
