Edwin Bernard Seivert

Edwin Bernard Seivert, age 87, was born on January 20, 1936, in Ashton, IA, the son of Jake and Helen (Menn) Seivert.
Edwin attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Ashton, IA and Worthington Community College in Worthington, MN. He was united in marriage to Doris Tremmel on September 26, 1953 at St. Mary’s Church in Ashton.
In 1960, he moved his family to Worthington, MN to begin working for Metz Baking Company. He retired in 1992 after 32 years. After retirement, Edwin started a small business selling industrial hand cleaners. He enjoyed traveling and being around people. Edwin was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus and was an usher at St. Mary’s Catholic Church for many years.
Edwin passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023, at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington, MN.
Edwin is survived by his wife, Doris of Worthington, MN; three sons, Alan (Carol) Seivert of Ocheyedan, IA, Bradley Seivert of Heron Lake, MN, and Rodney Seivert of Worthington, MN; two grandchildren, Alyssa (Ron Prins) of Sibley, IA and Christopher (Grace) of Vivian, SD; two great-grandchildren, Alayna and Cayden Wingate of Sibley, IA; two sisters, Sue (Vern) Thomsen of Fridley, MN and Theresa Schumacher of Omaha, NE, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Paul and Tom Seivert; four sisters, Franciscan Nun Sister Mary Seivert, Betty Brower, Benedictine Nun Sister Joyce Seivert, and Ida Peltier, and grandson-in-law, Corey Wingate.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, MN and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Worthington, MN, with Father Jim Callahan officiating.
