Lucille “Lucy” G. Kraft

Lucille “Lucy” G. Kraft, age 102, of Glenwood, formerly of Brewster, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at Glenwood Retirement Village.

Visitation is 1-3 p.m., on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, followed by a celebration of life service at 3 p.m., at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria.

Inurnment will take place at the Trinity Cemetery in Brewster at a later date.

Lucille Gwendolyn was born on February 24, 1920, to Clarence and Linda (Nystrom) Clark in Madison, South Dakota. She graduated from Worthington High School as Salutatorian for her class. Lucy was united in marriage to Harold Kraft on September 1, 1940. They farmed near Brewster, Minnesota. Lucy adapted to farm life and was a working partner, keeping records, feeding livestock, helping in the fields, providing meals for whoever was around at mealtime and being supportive to the family. Her memory will be remembered as being a generous and loving woman. She was deservingly honored as Jackson County Homemaker of the Year. Lucy enjoyed her project club, church, playing cards, neighbors, and family. She continued to live on the farm after her husband passed in 1986 until she was 90 years old, tending the garden, taking care of the lawn, and welcoming company. She enjoyed being invited to travel and adventured to China with her daughter, Jean, and walked on the Great Wall. Leaving the farm, Lucy moved to Windmill Ponds Assisted Living, Alexandria, to be closer to her daughter and then Glenwood Retirement Village, Glenwood. Jean was able to assist her mom with love and care, even becoming employed by the care facilities to have access during Covid.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, John and his wife, Susan; and siblings, Floris, Carlos, and LaVonne.

Lucy is survived by her daughter, Jean (Bob) Nyhammer; two sons, Joel (Cathy) and Jim (Jean); 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ardella Quarnstrom; along with many nieces, nephews, and their families.
