Val met a Powers girl from Brewster at his going away party and ended up giving her a ride home and they argued about whether Round Lake was round. Most recently, his service passions included the Elk’s Lodge where he served as an officer and gambling manager and he was also awarded Elk of the Year and Officer of the Year, the Optimist Club where he served as president and he was currently Commander of the Round Lake Legion post.

Val was immensely proud of his wife, kids, grandkids, numerous friends and witty sense of humor.
