Column: Kindergarten round-up is Monday at Prairie Elementary
By Heidi Meyer, Prairie Elementary Principal
WORTHINGTON — Future kindergarteners will have the opportunity to experience life at Prairie Elementary during our Kindergarten Round-Up on March 18.
In order to accommodate parent schedules, we have three sessions scheduled during the day. Please feel free to select the one that works best for you and your student. Sessions will begin at 9 a.m., noon and 5:30 pm. If you haven’t filled out the registration paperwork, you will want to arrive 15 minutes prior to the sessions. If you are in need of transportation, please call Head Start at 376-4195. They will assist you in getting to the session that works best with your schedule. Spanish and Karen interpreters will be available for all the sessions.
We encourage you to bring your future kindergarten student with you to Round-Up. As part of the event, your child will receive a “goodie bag” containing items that have been donated by ISD # 518. The sessions will have a craft activity furnished by Head Start, story time, a bus ride, and a sing-a-long for children. Tours of the building will be offered. Parents will attend an informational meeting during which they will learn all about Prairie Elementary and our kindergarten program.
Registration information was distributed through daycare centers and preschools. Those children who do not attend a preschool or daycare center had the registrations mailed to their home. If you did not receive the information, but have a child who will be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2019, please contact Prairie Elementary at 727-1250 for assistance in registering your child for kindergarten.
We hope you can join us for this fun-filled experience! If our Round-Up date does not work for your schedule, please feel free to drop off the registration materials in the office at Prairie Elementary anytime during office hours.
