As Independent School District 518 works to implement a plan based on the guidance provided by the Minnesota Department of Education and Gov. Tim Walz, it also would like to take the time to thank the many key groups that have enabled the district to continue to serve students while the learning environment rapidly changes. There are many people within our district community that have dedicated their time and efforts to continuing to provide an excellent education for all students.

Throughout the many changes since March, there have been tireless efforts to not only endure the changes, but champion them. These people make our community healthier and safer. Thank you to all those in District 518 including students, families, staff and all community members. It is through the combined effort of community safety and wellness that we are able to protect the health of all.

Thanks are also deserved by those who participated in distance learning last spring, including all students, families and ISD 518 staff. Those involved helped develop a system that can be used to deliver excellence in education even when students are not able to be physically present in district facilities. The knowledge and experience gained from the spring distance learning will also be applied to E-Learning Days that may be used during inclement weather in the future as well as built upon for possible future distance learning.

Lastly, thank you to all those who make up the incredible support system that District 518 utilizes to serve our community. The ISD 518 school board, all ISD 518 staff, building and district administration, coaches and activity advisors, and the countless parent and family volunteers that make it possible for all students within our district to achieve excellence in education. Your time, dedication and selflessness is noted and appreciated every single day. This is even more true during times such as these that present new challenges and hurdles to overcome.
