WORTHINGTON — With sunshine and warmer weather finally making its arrival, we have great activities, events and classes in the Worthington District 518 Community Education spring catalog. We are collaborating with the many different agencies to bring a “one-stop-shop” catalog filled with helpful information and activities for the coming spring months. The catalog was recently mailed to district residents and past participants.

We are excited to watch the progress of the gymnastics students that participate in our year-round gymnastics offerings. Right now they are in the competitive portion of the year with the WHS Trojans gymnastics and SWAGS teams. Wrestlers that started out with our youth wrestling program are now competing at the high school level. It’s fun to cheer all of these athletes on. We have great staff and volunteers that help with our programs and appreciate all their efforts.

Our local expert on Medicare, Gail Radke from the MN River Area Agency on Agency, is planning on being in Worthington on Monday, March 8 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in this virtual opportunity. Gail presents in a non-biased format about how to work with Medicare A through D for your medical needs. She is very patient and knowledgeable about the programs and will help you with all of your questions. Please call our office at 376-6105 to register. Then we will send you the online links in time to participate.

Want to in learn how to watercolor paint? Or do you want to learn how to Zoom with your family and friends in the comfort of your home? We have class offerings on these topics available for you this quarter.

Many discussions have occurred in the past 20 years about a permanent location for District 518 Community Education. Our local school board is considering construction of a Community Education facility on Crailsheim Road by the Learning Center. There will be a public meeting on Monday, March 8 at 7 p.m. at West Learning Center, 117 11th Ave. Everyone is invited to attend and to learn more about the proposed project.

Thank you for your continued support of Worthington District 518 Community Education. We hope to see you soon in one of our 2021 classes or events!

Anne Foley is District 518 Community Education's Enrichment Program Coordinator.
