Worthington District 518 Community Education continues to explore new avenues that collaboration with a wide variety of agencies, groups and businesses bring forth. Our programming continues to grow, and we are appreciative of another banner year!

Our class and activity options continue to provide quality experiences to participants from a wide radius. We especially love to see the youth come through our programs and then go onto success at the high school level in music, art, leadership roles and sports.

We are honoring all military service veterans during the month of November with a special discount on our AARP Smart Driver courses. The veteran will take either the eight-hour or the four-hour refresher for only $2, a savings of up to $20 per veteran. The veteran may use any form of ID they wish to verify veteran status - military ID, VFW card, American Legion card, DAV or current VA card. An eight-hour class is available on Saturday, Nov. 10 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The four-hour class options include: Friday, Nov. 16 from 6 to 10 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 29 from noon to 4 p.m. or Friday, Nov. 30 from 6 to 10 p.m.

On Nov. 8, Southwest Initiative Foundation (SWIF) will be hosting another Grow Our Own Summit in Marshall about increasing opportunities for youth and families in our region. While registration for this event is done on your own, Community Education is partnering with SWIF to coordinate bus transportation to the event. This transportation will be provided free of charge. Anyone interested in riding the bus to the event may contact Community Education at 376-6105 to reserve a seat. Certificates of attendance are available upon request.

Our planning for activities is always active. We are planning monthly opportunities for families with young children from 0 to 10 for the winter and spring months. Activities include a family music concert, family swim, ice skating, bike riding and more. Be looking for the District 518 Community Education winter catalog that will arrive at the beginning of December for more details and information!
