Editorial: Come one, come all this weekend

It’s Worthington’s weekend to celebrate, and we’re hoping generous numbers of local residents and out-of-town guests join us for the 76th annual King Turkey Day.
Our one-of-a-kind festival promises to be a memorable occasion this year. Sporting the theme “Turkey Town Takedown,” this year’s KTD will welcome wrestling legend Dan Gable to Worthington. Gable is scheduled to make an appearance Friday night at Minnesota West, and will also be the featured speaker on 10th Street Saturday afternoon prior to the Great Gobbler Gallop and Grand Parade.
Naturally, there’s plenty more to gobble about when it comes to Turkey Day weekend. For one thing, the festival’s board of director remains clearly committed to making KTD an event for the entire family.
Renowned musician Steve Gryb, hailed as “The Pied Piper of Percussion,” will be leading interactive performances on both Friday and Saturday at the Nobles County Fairgrounds. That same site will also play host to a Friday night Kiddie and Pet Parade, which the United Way of Nobles County has coordinated as a benefit to re-start the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in the county. And the fairgrounds will be home to numerous other children’s game and activities, too.
Of course, the complete schedule of events for KTD (available at kingturkeyday.net) is as lengthy as ever. We look forward to a large crowd - and ... GO PAYCHECK!
