As a child growing up in Albert Lea, the old courthouse was the meeting place with my grandparents from Oldham, S.D. It was halfway. When we had an opportunity to move here 36 years ago versus another city, we chose Worthington. It is a beautiful city with quality people.
However, I have to say that for years, evidently the fathers of this city didn't have much desire to make this city what it could be. That is a real tragedy. This is our time for us to stand up and show our interest in this city. If we don't pass the one-half percent tax this time, I understand the opportunity will pass and this time will never come again. All the footwork will have to be redone.
Let's say "we made a difference" for future generations. As my grandchildren have been discussing here at the house, this is a "need," not a "want." Vote yes, please.
