In our January letter, we did not write that we are a Christian nation. We wrote that Christianity is the foundation of America.
The last paragraph of the Declaration of Independence, the Declaration of Freedom, includes the words “appealing to the Supreme Judge of the World for the rectitude of our intentions.”
Also, “and for the support of this declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.”
It was suggested in a February letter that we read the constitution. We have done so in the past and are now quoting from it. But nevertheless, it is good advice for anyone.
Our January letter was not based on any radical right-wing media - as was suggested - but on publications that by now would have been dealing with lawsuits if false.
