Dear City of Worthington,
My year here in Germany is coming very close to an end. I have had so much to do in the last couple weeks that I don't know where the time is going.
On the 31st of May I moved to my new host family, the Fakners'. My new host mom welcomed me with open arms. It was not easy to move again knowing it would be my last time before coming home, but things went very well. So far, things have been going great here. I'll be honest, I haven't been home a whole lot, but when I am here I definitely feel like part of the family.
On the 2nd of June, the group of 13 students and two chaperones from Worthington came. I drove to the airport with a group of students from my school to welcome the "Americans." It was great to see all of them. While they were here, I kept quite busy. The first couple days I played the role of being a tour guide. I had a lot of fun doing that! On Wednesday the 4th, the group had a big welcome party at the City Hall here in Crailsheim. The Mayor, Andreas Raab, spoke English! I was really surprised because that was the first time he had ever spoke English around me. Later on that day we had a mini-golf tournament, Americans against the Germans. I found it a bit funny because I was considered part of the German team.
We did many different things while they were here such as Neuschweinstein Castle, soccer games, touring other cities and much, much more. On the 16th of June, the group headed back to Worthington. I rode with to the airport to see them off. I had an awesome time while they were here. The time flew by!

Right now in Germany, the national soccer championships are taking place. Germany has been doing quite well. The night of the 16th I went to the soccer game in Ilshofen, a little town about 10 kilometers from Crailsheim. They have a big arena there, and we watched the game on a big-screen TV. It was a lot of fun being in that atmosphere. It was just like a professional baseball game or basketball game back home. It was awesome! The game was against Austria. Germany ended up winning, and the people went crazy! Then, on Thursday the 19th, Germany played again. They played against Portugal, which is the best team in the league. I guess Germany had a lot of luck on their side because they won. The most recent game they played was against Turkey. Once again Germany won, moving them to the finals. I am really excited to see who wins! It'll be a lot of fun to watch.
Other than hanging out with the Americans while they were here or watching soccer, I have been trying to do as many things as possible. School was finished for us on the 6th of June, so I have had a lot of free time to do the things that I want to. I only have three more weeks until I am back in Worthington. It'll definitely be hard leaving my new home here in Crailsheim. I have had the best year I could ever ask for and would love to stay longer if I could! I hope all is going well back in Worthington, and the next time I write will probably be when I am home.
