I agree with Lonnie Boltjes about Olson Campground (Sept. 1 letter to the editor).
There needs to be a lot of work done to keep up with surrounding campgrounds. Every site needs to be leveled and graveled. The bathrooms have more bugs and mosquitoes inside than there are outside. There are gopher holes and others big enough to break a leg or sprain an ankle.
We go to a small town campground. They have sewer, water, cable, Wi-Fi, clear water, a large swimming hole, a snack shop, a fishing pond with a large T-shaped dock, a large area playground, horseshoes, family restrooms, six individual private showers, and shelter with enclosure. All for $18 - and sewer is available.
Olson has unlevel campsites, playground, bad disgusting bathrooms with no ventilation, open shelter, a bike trail and disc golf, for $26.50 - and $5 more if you want a lakeside view. Come on, Worthington. Let’s get our campground updated with reasonable rates that we don’t need campers in store parking lots.
Let’s get something we can be proud of and brag about to our fellow campers and urge them to come to our Olson Park campground. Campers do shop and eat out when they are in campgrounds.
