We would like to thank everyone that helped the American Cancer Society in Nobles County with the very successful Daffodil Days last week, including: McCarthy's Floral for the storage space and work space to process all of the pre-orders; Hy-Vee and the Sterling Drug downtown location for allowing us to sell the daffodils from their stores; RSVP for assisting with the pre-sales, delivery and. of course. the many hours of selling at Hy-Vee and Sterling Drug; the American Cancer Society volunteers that helped with the pre-sales, processing the orders, deliveries and money collecting; and last but not least, all of the people that supported the fundraising effort by purchasing the daffodils.

More than 300,000 bunches, or 3 million stems, of daffodils were delivered throughout Minnesota March 10-14, raising an estimated $2,577,386 in daffodil sales.

If your business or organization did not receive the opportunity to pre-order and you would like to be included next year, please contact Kim Lambert at 372-5305.

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. Remind your friends and loved ones to be sure to get their colonoscopy scheduled, as the best defense against colon cancer is early detection. Colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in the U.S. for men and women combined. The survival rate is 90 percent when colon cancer is found in the early stage, but currently only 39 percent of colon cancers are detected at an early stage. The American Cancer Society is currently funding 113 colon cancer research grants nationwide totaling more than $62.1 million.
